“I had very bad post-natal depression and couldn’t go anywhere. With my volunteer encouraging me, I can now go out on my own.”

Can I bring my partner along?
As every family situation is different, it may not always be appropriate. Please phone us to discuss in confidence your situation so we can balance this against the needs of the whole group.
How long will it last?
You will be invited to attend weekly sessions for six months to a year.
Do I have to attend every week?
You will be expected to attend at least three sessions out of every four.
Will refreshments be available?
Light refreshments and drinks will be available at both sessions. We are also able to offer a light lunch at the St Leonards' group.
What else can the group provide?
The aim of the group is to offer a complimentary support group to work alongside our home visiting volunteers. Each week, 2-4 volunteers will join the group not only to provide their own expertise, but also to assist in escorting participants who may feel anxious about attending.
What is Talk Together?
Talk Together is a free group aimed at mothers and families where Home-Start provides the venue so that they can meet other mothers, volunteers and access support for themselves without the worry of arranging childcare facilities.
Activities for adults are based on a holistic approach to encourage social interaction between service users. Examples include aromatherapy, creative writing and massage.
Where is it being held?
We are fortunate enough to be supported by the St Leonards Children’s Centre in Clyde Road, St Leonards and Sidley Children's Centre, Bexhill who are allowing us the use of their facilities for these groups.
When do the sessions start?
Sessions are every Tuesday. Sidley group sessions are held between 9.30 and 11.30 and St Leonards' group sessions are held between 12.30 and 3.00pm.
Will it cost anything?
No, we are fortunate enough to have received funding for this group.
I don’t have anyone to leave my children with, can I bring them along?
Yes, provided they are under 5. We are providing crèche facilities as children won’t participate in the full sessions.
Can I bring an older child with me?
Not really. There are no facilities to cater for older children. In such circumstances, where you are unable to attend without bringing along an older child, please ring us to let us know.
